Yin is a deepening of the more receptive, cooler, Lunar elements in its interpretation of Yogasana.
This is often assisted by a few of the more active asana to warm up, followed by the deeper cooling down, and resulting turning inward.
Yin goes deep into the Fascia Universe, collaborating with the mat and props to achieve deeper stretches, using active listening to the body, and letting it stop at the edge of the stretch; sit back and rest into it; and then go in a bit deeper once that area has become more opened up and feels comfortable.
This process assists with deep, self-myofascial release, which makes space for many other beneficial things.
