Giving Back

Love Tree
A portion of all proceeds goes to Greenpeace International.
If modalities from a specific tradition are employed, a portion is offered in gratitude to my specific teacher(s) and/or peoples of the part of the world through which that wisdom came. - A key reason for choosing Greenpeace International for any donation is the wide variety of places, peoples, and this world as a whole they work to serve. Another is that they work in legal and policy areas in addition to directly supporting natural areas and communities.
To contribute to a project that I personally work with, you are invited to donate directly to a grove of trees I contribute to growing in Scotland. It is a £6 for each tree. Some of my ancestors are Scotch Irish, so there was a personal pull for me to work with this particular project, in addition to some areas of the region still having surviving Ash trees*. To volunteer to go there and plant for a week, (they put you up) just visit the link and select, "Menu", then "Support", and then "Volunteer" to learn more: "My" Grove: https://treesforlife.org.uk/groves/578894/
*I do not prioritize the Ash due to my name, but due to their value on the planet as trees in general and as a wonderfully medicinal tree (every part can be used as a medicine for a different issue. This is possibly why more than one culture use them as their tree of Life. There is a current danger to the Ash population due to a threat of a particular disease spreading among them in the aisles in particular. Trees for Life does not exclusively plant Ash as they are aiming toward a balance of plants, but they do incorporate them into the mix when suitable to for the area.
(Because I enjoy etymology and my associative mind notices connecting themes:
While there is no known lingual lineage connection among most of the following words, I find it interesting that
a. the Canaanite Goddess, "Asherah", was symbolized by trees and with the tree of life.
b. "áshe" in part means the vital life force that animates all things.
c. "asli" in Indonesian means the original of something.
d. an "asura" (literally, spirit" and "lord") is a powerful superhuman demigod with good and / or bad qualities in Sanskrit. Some reading will be aware that some today try to translate the archetypes to Judeo-Christian culture by employing a kind of slant correlation of Devas and Asuras with Angels and Demons, but they are actually much more complex than that. To me, they are more akin to the Celtic Fae archetypes in that they have more complex archetypal identities and relationships with our layer of reality. For example, there are Asuras who do very benefic things and the reverse is true for the Devas. For those who know Helenistic Astrology; Jupiter (expansion, spirituality, long distance travel, education of self and others, benefic entity and impacts, etc.) is the Guru of the Devas and Shukra (shining pure, clear) or Venus (love, spirituality, the arts, transcendence, harmony, pleasures of the physical and metaphysical, benefic entity and impacts, etc) is the Guru for the Asuras. In the Vedanta and older texts, Shukra (also, Usanas or Kavi or Bhrigu) is associated with seers, poetry, and philosophical and intellectual mastery and is also associated wit healing with the mythology in part stating that Shukra held the secret for resurrecting the dead. Both Devas and Asuras are spiritual and associated with advancement of self and community. Each is lead by a benefic. And each is shown more ways to be more benefic. The more earthly versions of these are very generally, are storied to be (overall) more into pleasures, material things, and also forms of transcendence or healing and rejuvenation like spiritual practices and the arts. One scholar is credited by Dr. Claudia Welch as stating that a consistent distinction between what a Deva and what an Asura is, is not so much in their storied characters or actions, but rather in points of view as they relate to reality; with Asuras generlly being more concerned with earthly and the material and Devas (also) looking to "the possibilities beyond"... Like I said on the intro page; I am SUPER fun.
